Minsk and Sughd regions are ready to create joint ventures

Minsk and Sughd regions are ready to create joint ventures

The Minsk region and the Sogd region of Tajikistan expressed their readiness to deepen cooperation through the creation of joint ventures. This was discussed at a meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Igor Makar with the Chairman of the Executive Body of State Power of the Sughd Region, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, BelTA has learned.

“The prospect of our common development is in the creation of joint ventures,” said Igor Makar. “We have modern scientific institutions, the meat and dairy industry, light industry, and machine building are developed. We are ready to share this experience. Provide heifers for livestock production and raising, agricultural, and communal "At the same time, we are interested in delivering dried fruits from Tajikistan, nuts - something that our land is not so rich in." Igor Makar is confident that the experience and technical support of the Minsk region in the field of land reclamation will be useful to partners - in order to develop land that has not yet been used using modern irrigation systems.

Rajabboy Ahmadzoda noted that their region is famous for the production of cotton, silk, grows more than 10 kinds of various fruits, vegetables, berries. The annual harvest reaches almost 1 million tons. "We would like to buy potato seeds from you. To learn from experience in meat and dairy farming is to create a joint venture. You have one, we have another, you need to exchange so that everyone benefits", - concluded Rajabboy Akhmadzoda. According to him, the same fruits and vegetables from the Sughd region can be directly supplied to the capital region of Belarus for conservation or joint production in Tajikistan - for this the country has infrastructure, cheap electricity, specialists, and manufacturers of the Minsk region will provide high-quality sugar for production. The Belarusian production of linen fabrics is interesting - in this area you can also consider options for joint projects. “We are interested in a joint venture with our Belarusian friends for the production of cotton and knitwear. In the future, we also want to create a joint venture for sewing outerwear made of linen,” the head of the Sughd region explained.

Joint production is beneficial, including due to the geographical location of partners. Such products can be in demand on the wide market of Eurasia: in Russia, Turkey, Afghanistan, China.

The parties noted that such a representative delegation from the region of Tajikistan was visiting the Minsk region for the first time, and expressed hope for the development of point contacts in industries. This includes mutual contacts in the field of tourism, sports, hunting, forestry, and the exchange of children's delegations. There are great prospects in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals. Every year, the Sughd region imports medicines worth more than $ 75 million, while the share of Belarus is very small. There is potential not only in increasing the volume of supplies, but also in creating joint production based on medicinal herbs, which are abundant in Tajikistan.

Today, a delegation from Tajikistan will visit several enterprises of the Minsk region, including the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Potato and Horticulture, OAO Slutsk Meat Processing Plant, OAO Kupalinka.

In general, the program of the guests includes a number of business meetings and familiarization with the work of producers of food and non-food products. “The delegation will work not only in our region: they will also visit the Mogilev region, the city of Baranavichy, Minsk enterprises,” added Igor Makar. “I hope that after summing up the results of the meetings, we will sign a roadmap in all areas of cooperation.” The delegation’s stay in the business forum at the Minsk branch of the BelCCI will end on November 28. It is planned to sign an agreement on cooperation between the Minsk branch of the BelCCI and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Sogd region of Tajikistan.
