Belarus, Uzbekistan to launch new joint education programs

Belarusian State University (BSU) plans to launch more education programs with Uzbekistan.

This matter was discussed during the visit of the BSU delegation led by Rector Andrei Korol to the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, BelTA learned from the press service of the university.

“A meeting was held with Rector Gulchekhra Rikhsieva to discuss cooperation prospects. A joint program in Oriental (Chinese) philology has been running since 2019. Currently, nine Uzbek students are taking part in this program,” the BSU said.

The parties discussed in detail promising education programs. They noted that the demand for specialists with IT skills is pretty big. The Uzbek counterparts were interested in the BSU expertise in training IT specialists, as well as in the development of interdisciplinary specialties. The participants of the meeting upheld an initiative to launch a joint program in computational linguistics and discussed a possibility to implement youth start-up projects, as well as internships at the Belarusian university. The work on these proposals will continue in the near future.

The visit to the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies took place during the official visit of the BSU delegation to Uzbekistan. The program of the visit includes meetings with the administration of a number of institutions and the signing of cooperation agreements. In the near future, the BSU delegation will visit the Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek, Tashkent State University of Law, Samarkand State University.
