The Berezino region was founded on June 17, 1924.
The region occupies 1,900 km2. The population is 27,827, among them 12,647 are city dwellers and 15,225 – rural residents.
There are nine rural councils and 218 population centres.
Forests cover 50% (94,800 hectares) of the region. The agricultural land occupies 63,700 hectares, including 41,200 hectares of tilled fields and 22,500 hectares of hay-fields and pastures. Some 7.4% of the territory is bogs.
