The government will assess the performance of company executives in a tougher way, Belarus' Prime Minister Sergei Rumas said commenting on the outcomes of the government session with Belarus' economic bloc hosted by Alexander Lukashenko on 5 February, BelTA has learned.

Lukashenko, Putin to meet on 13 February

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will meet with Russia President Vladimir Putin on 13 February, BelTA learned from Spokesperson for the President of Belarus Natalya Eismont.

Belarus has put together a comprehensive set of agreements with various countries on cooperation, assistance, and exchange of information about emergencies, including nuclear and radiological ones, BelTA learned from the report released by the latest Emergency Preparedness Review (EPREV) mission. The report has been published on the website of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.

<p>This year MPs should spare no effort while working with individuals and labor collectives, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at a session of the House or Representatives on 30 January, BelTA has learned.</p>

The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus is drafting a new set of measures to cut dollar use; there are plans to introduce amendments to the Civil Code and the Banking Code of Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Sergei Kalechits said as he read out a report at an extended session of the Board. The report was posted on the website of the National Bank, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian president signed Decree No. 2 to amend Decree No. 28 from 17 December 2002 and Decree No. 4 from 18 October 2007 regulating production, trade and consumption of tobacco products on 24 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

WTO: Belarus is likely to join WTO in mid-2020

The World Trade Organization believes that Belarus is highly likely to complete all the necessary accession procedures by mid 2020, Juan Marchetti, a counsellor at the Trade in Services and Investment Division of the WTO Secretariat, told reporters, BelTA has learned.

There are no reasons to change Belarus' foreign policy priorities, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with former ministers of foreign affairs of Belarus held in the run-up to the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian diplomatic service on 18 January, BelTA has learned.

The next meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission will be held in Moscow on 18 January. Belarus will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.

Belarus' interest in joining the World Trade Organization remains high. We intend to continue negotiations with trading partners, Belarus First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yevdochenko told reporters, BelTA has learned.
