Estonia invested $33 million in the Belarusian economy in 2017, Alexander Fedorchuk, Director General of the Minsk Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told the media ahead of the Belarus-Estonia business forum on 7 February, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Fedorchuk pointed to the large amount of Estonian investments in Belarus' economy. “As much as $33 million of Estonian investments were used in 2017 to carry out some projects, including the one to set up a fish processing company in Berezina District. Another project is Vitebsk Sawmill which has used around $10 million so far and plans to use another $12-13 million in 2018. There are four companies with Estonian capital in the FEZ Minsk. It is important that the contacts are regular,” Alexander Fedorchuk said. He stressed active cooperation with the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Belarusian-Estonian business forum has drawn together 50 Belarusian and 13 Estonian companies. A business matchmaking session at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will help the Belarusian participants hold bilateral talks with Estonian companies that have an interest in cooperation in manufacturing mining equipment, quarry machinery, metallurgical products, industrial equipment, food products, medicines, logistics services, and other things.
